Cue joyful photos of baby elephants in a tropical jungle, bathing with their mahouts by their side. Dreamt of being lucky enough to actually have the opportunity to do this yourself? Now’s your chance to live your dream with these majestic animals on a volunteering program you’ll never forget! Based in a lush mountain valley outside of Thailand’s back packing capital Chiang Mai, this amazing program’s goal is to protect the endangered Asian elephant, caring for rescued elephants in a dedicated nursery. The program protects elephants from poachers, taking in orphans and endangered elephants.
You’ll work directly with the elephants, caring for them and ensuring their daily needs are met. Volunteers can also work on the conservation of these amazing creatures, working on education programs and helping with the paying visitors whose fees go towards their care and wellbeing. If you love animals and conservation and have a yearning to see the world, make your dream a reality today.
Airport: Chiang Mai International Airport (CNX), Chiang Mai
The turtle conservation program is available all year with arrivals every Saturday. The program’s duration is 1 week to 8 weeks depending on your preference. If you wish to stay longer than 8 weeks this can be arranged with the local team.

Our prices don’t include flights, travel insurance, visas or vaccinations, but we can provide information and support on obtaining these. You may also need additional spending money to purchase additional foods and snacks, local transport, weekend tours and excursions, and return airport transfer.
This essential elephant preservation and conservation program sees like-minded volunteers from around the world work directly with mahouts (elephant carers) to care for the daily needs of rescued elephants. From bathing the animals in the local river, to feeding and maintaining the nursery area, volunteers will work across a huge variety of tasks to ensure their care is of the highest quality. Volunteers who aren’t afraid of large animals, working hard and getting their hands dirty should apply.
You’ll stay on site in the rustic volunteer camp, nestled in mountains for a truly authentic experience. Daily paying tourists are essential to funding this crucial conservation program, with volunteers also helping with daily tasks with the visitors and ensuring the camp is clean and tidy. This is an amazing experience for any traveller wanting to preserve these endangered animals for future generations. Make your travel meaningful, and volunteer your time on an experience of a lifetime.
